This title speaks to something I’ve had to grow into as an artist —
allowing color to lead instead of trying to control it. In my original
sketches, I often start with uncertain, tentative marks. The color
comes later, sometimes unexpectedly, and shifts the direction of the
painting. It brings clarity, movement, and joy — if I let it.
Over time, I’ve come to see color not as something to manage, but
as something to listen to. It carries feeling, intuition, presence.
